Black Woman
My lips are full
So are my hips
My hair is Nappy
All my clothes fit.
I swing my head
I feel the current of my legs
I may roll my eyes
Depending on what is said.
Even when they hate me,
I don’t care
I am a Black Woman.
No changing that there.
Underground
They try to play me, slay me
With the image they portray of me
Then they rape me, desecrate me
Just because they are afraid of me.
The hide by slide by their demonic counter-parts.
The ones that hate us but want our body parts.
Don’t get mad because I have a pre-determined destiny.
I was spoken into existence before you ever came to be.
Don’t be surprised; you know we make the world go round
There are many Nigga’s that have talent, but remain underground.
It’s not that they aren’t good enough, that’s plain to see
It’s that hard core underground that set our asses free
Can’t you hear the morning crying about the pain of the dark?
That’s the time that we have nothing but God in our hearts.
Can’t you hear the voices saying this is not how it supposed to be?
We went through tribulations so that you children can be free.
Don’t come near it if you want to hear about American Pie
Don’t come near it if you don’t believe in a power higher than you and I.
You weren’t on my side then so, why should I expect it now?
Is that why you hate me?
Is that why you frown?
Kindred souls make us whole, but we have one gigantic task
To continue on this journey and defy the mask.
Can’t you here the spirits singing as the trumpets sounds?
Don’t come near it, if you don’t want to hear the
Spirit of the underground.
Misconception
Why wasn’t it seen that the slate was wiped clean?
Spirits minds and souls,
Alas, to be redeemed!
Why wasn’t it reported that the image was distorted?
What happen to the documentation that wasn’t recorded?
It’s not a mystery to me.
I never trusted you to see.
We’ve filled in the gaps throughout HIStory.
When my one and your one equals two
That’s when I will trust you.
Until then let it be known that you don’t have a clue.
But you never did
Behind the truth you hid.
The Essence of my destiny, you could not rid.
It’s plain to see why you hate me,
I am Royalty.
You can never defeat me.
Essence
It’s funny how things change, but remain the same
It’s peculiar how reality seems like a game
It’s strange how love feels so out of tune.
Then there is the Essence of you.
How spectacular is the palm of your hand?
How charming your humor and how it stand.
How gentle is your voice, when you speak the truth.
There it is again, the essence of you.
So long are the days that we are apart.
So Long are the paths to ones heart,
So long for the time spent with you,
Still drowning in the Essence of you.
Oasis
Release is what I need to encourage me to proceed
To devour the fruit in which I feed.
I need a seat
A serene retreat
A secluded place where love meets
Relief is what I need from these overwhelming desires
The thoughts an dreams that will take me higher
You are the one I admire
When will it be out time to retire?
Realizing this is not our time
I long to find a place to unwind
At that location you will be mine.
Rubbing my nose against you neck gets me wet
Then I forget the path that was set
Reading between the lines
I always fine a treasure divine
A fine wine in a place where the sun seldom shines.
Reaping what I sow
I know I will grow
To see that true love resides in the word, “No.”
Delicate Flower
I am a delicate Flower
That blossoms in the night
I hold and flaunt my petals with pride
As it rains
I have to maintain
Wait for my change
Isolated showers are strange.
I am a delicate flower
Pick me
Keep me
For I am to be kept
You are the only one that stayed
When everyone left
You are the one that admired my colors so bright
I thirst for your water in the middle of the night.
Now that you have plucked me ,
Are you to throw me away?
A flower, a symbol of life, no time to play.
I am a delicate flower that blossom through the night
Smell me, Feel me
Loose me not in this fight.
You thought you had me
You thought you had me
You thought it was made
Until I claimed victory over this day.
You thought I was weak, not an ounce of strong
You tripped with me hung out all day long
Encouraged negative words and attitudes
Continuously praising me for being rude
You offered no help evaluating situations
Uncharted destinations, Immoral emancipation
You told me always to yield unto temptation
To ensure I won’t reach my pre-determine station.
You thought you had me,
You made things seem so real,
Never giving a thought about how I really feel.
You separated me from Loved ones I loved so much.
You made my dream see too far to touch.
You were always there when I needed a friend
Continuously reminding me that situations never end.
You said my life was a dead end
So, I pawn my soul for a life of sin.
You made things seem more that what it is
Never encouraged the spirit to give.
Then you’d questioned, “ Why do I live?”
You thought you had me
You counted it done
You even told me Jesus wasn’t God’s son.
Souped up packages and diamond rings
You told me I was nothing without material things
You even took away my will to sing and
Every time you came around , a new problem you would bring.
We had some good times, You loved me to death.
But I could never find you when I was near death.
When I was sick , you didn’t call or even come by.
You never offered a should when I needed to cry.
When I gave God the praise, you would ask me “Why?”
You thought you had me
Now it was plain to see
You weren’t the man that was looking out for me.
It was my old friend Jesus
Who was there the whole time,
When I was hungry and broke
He fed me and lent me thousands of dimes.
Jehovah-Jireh is my friend’s name.
The one who gave me shelter every time it rains.
We always talked about possibilities for tomorrow
He is a source of inspiration in my time of sorrow.
He never has one bad thing to say
He wakes me up every morning of the day
He let’s me know I can call him anytime
And when the going got tough, he gave his life for mine.
Even though you did him wrong,
He let me choose
That’s why I am saying Good-bye to you.
Yesterday
Yesterday you touch me and I fell apart.
Still embarrassed, yet I cherish
Memories enclosed in the dark.
Yesterday you touched me and it felt so good
Yesterday you touched me like a real man should
You touch me like yesterday, everyday.
The times you walk by the times you say ”Hey.”
Innocent to you, everything to me,
I am a leaf falling from your tree
Back to the earth I go to help other s to grow
Encouraging them to love but also let go
Coaching them to evolve, but take it slow
Yesterday you touch me and I fell apart.
Yesterday you rekindled a spirit in the dark.
WAR
Why war for your cause
Emotional Bars
Controversy that’s not ours
Programmed like mice
Trap me to pay the price
In your maze
Bio-chemical haze
Un-amazed as you Psychological blows graze
Please do not be deceived
For I see the degrees
Fall of trees
You can attack
Don’t expect me to sit back
Common you lack
To keep your army in tack
You think you’re hidden
I see you there
I identified your stare
Read the story that was there
Consciously hiding behind man’s faith
This is not hate
This is fate
You think you can do just anything to me
Wait and see
The wrath of Victory.
Speechless Moments
If I could sit you down for a moment or whisk you away.
I would not tell you a bunch of fairytales or how life is gay.
Can I get you undivided attention? Just for a whim?
I would say or do anything just to see you grin.
If you can just take a moment, maybe you will find,
A True Black Goddess with her own mind,
With wings like an eagle, so high when I fly,
Show you the view from this wing,
Just give me a try.
If I could just yell “TIME OUT” in this game of life,
I would tell you of days I’ve envisioned being your wife.
A family of three, not including you and me,
With a hammock in the yard
Hanging from an oak tree.
If I could just pull you aside, just to get real.
You’re the dealer in this card game,
So how does it feel?
To catch me looking at you, feeling the things you do.
Hoping that your fondest dreams will come true.
With or without me, I wish you could see
I’m the realist Mutha Fucka’ you will ever see!
Just for a moment, I ask, so I can reenact my dreams.
Because it’s just like Coke, “You Can’t Beat the Real Thing.”
If I can reach you this moment,
What would I say?
I don’t know………
I just want to anyway.
Evol
She waits
Masturbate on hate
Why wait for her to equate
The fake imitating the great.
Simply tempting
To pimp me from my blessings
To test the being
Would you venture beyond?
Or wait until dawn?
What if it do not come,
Where will you strength come from?
The damage is done
You are stuck
Hung
Forever
This is the final endeavor
Sever her
My believer.
Kill her
Overachiever
Evol feeds off stormy weather.
Let’s kill together
First Encounter
Oh yes it’s me
Before you eloquently
Critiquing my identity?
This is not strange to me
Have you seen what there is to see
Seeking and critiquing my identity.
I walk. You talk.
I prance. You dance
How can I advance?
When you won’t give me a chance
Hit and run
Is that all to be done?
The battle is already won.
You’re hiding from the sun.
You’ll complain through the purifying rain
I will reign
As you continue on sane.
Two Different
If you expose you heart, will you be in the dark?
Is it only behind closed doors that you will proclaim that I am yours?
Will I ever be able to hold the key to your heart?
Why is it that you smile only when you are in the dark?
Two People, Too Different
Too involved to find
Love in the Light
Peace in our minds.
How many miles until I fit the profile?
Is there another way to pay and not throw it away?
The ones that judge are not happy with their lives
Which make me wonder why you choose to follow their demise.
Two People, Too Different
Too involved to find
Love in the Light
Peace in our minds.
